Growing smarter with less maintenance

Max van der Linde

How we automated our infrastructure management and created room for innovation

Infrastructure is not just about performance or uptime. It’s also about available time. Time that you can spend on innovation instead of maintenance.

Our number of servers has grown significantly in recent years. Great news, of course, but it came with a challenge: firmware updates and maintenance were taking up more and more of our time. We handled everything manually. Server by server, patch by patch. Precise work, but far from scalable.

From manual management to automation

Every update meant logging in again, downloading, configuring, rebooting, and waiting for everything to come back online. It didn’t just take days every month. It also pulled our focus away from new projects and innovation.

We knew something had to change. We wanted more visibility, less manual work, and, most importantly, more time to look ahead. That’s why we decided to modernize and automate our maintenance process.

A smarter approach together with HPE

In that journey, we partnered with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). Their GreenLake platform offered exactly what we were looking for: a way to automate firmware management centrally and securely, without compromising on control or transparency.

With HPE GreenLake, we can execute updates from a single environment, fully automated. What used to take days now takes just a few hours. It feels like a world of difference.

Thanks to that automation, we’ve freed up valuable time to focus on what truly matters: improving our infrastructure and developing new services for our customers.

Less maintenance, more focus

The benefits go beyond time savings. The real gain is in the quality of our work. Less repetitive maintenance means more room for innovation, testing, and optimization. We can move faster, anticipate better, and continuously refine our infrastructure.

The less time we spend on maintenance, the more time we have to build the future for our customers.

A solid foundation

Our goal has always been the same: to deliver infrastructure that’s predictable, reliable, and secure. Automation helps us strengthen that foundation even further. As engineers, we want to build systems that just work. No noise, no surprises. And with the help of HPE, we’ve simplified another piece of the complex infrastructure puzzle.
