Soporte

IPv4 and IPv6 addresses on your server

Se aplica a Dedicated serversAudiencia All customersÚltima revisión September 2026

Respuesta rápida

Every dedicated server comes with one IPv4 address. You can add more, but the maximum depends on how your server is configured, so support confirms the number that applies to yours. IPv6 is available on request. This article deliberately states no prices: check worldstream.com or ask in a support ticket for what anything currently costs.

What your server already has

One IPv4 address is included with every dedicated server. It is part of the package you ordered, and it is the address your server uses to reach the internet and be reached from it.

To see the addresses on your package, open the server in Portal and go to its Networking tab. That tab lists the IPs belonging to the package, and lets you edit reverse DNS where the portal allows it. Addresses in the separate Reserved pool under IP Management work differently and are not part of a dedicated server package.

Adding extra IPv4 addresses

You can add IPv4 addresses to a dedicated server, as a paid extra. There is a maximum, and it depends on your server configuration, so there is no single number that holds for every server. Ask before you design around a specific count.

Open a ticket in Portal, or mail support@worldstream.com if you do not have portal access. Say which server the request is for and how many addresses you need, and support comes back with what your configuration allows and what it costs.

Assigned addresses still have to be configured on the server itself. How to add additional static IPs covers that for Linux.

Getting IPv6

IPv6 is available on request. If your server has no IPv6 range yet, open a support ticket and ask for one to be added to your setup. Once it is assigned, you configure it on the server the same way you configure any other address. See How to configure IPv6.

It is worth asking for IPv6 before you order extra IPv4. A lot of the reasons people reach for a second IPv4 address disappear once the service is reachable over IPv6 as well. IPv4 vs. IPv6: do you actually need extra IPv4 addresses walks through which reasons genuinely need IPv4 and which do not.

Announcing your own IP range

Worldstream can announce IPv4 space you already hold, instead of assigning you addresses from its own pool. That is a separate service, usually called bring your own IP range, and it has its own requirements: a signed Letter of Authorization, a range that is not announced anywhere else, a route object at your regional internet registry, and an RPKI ROA. A one-time administrative fee per subnet applies.

LOA: Letter of Authorization announcing IPv4 space covers each requirement and how to start the request.

Where to find prices

This knowledge base does not publish prices. They change, and a figure that has quietly gone stale is worse than no figure at all. For current pricing on extra IPv4 addresses, IPv6 and bring your own IP range, check worldstream.com, or ask in the same ticket you use to request them. The amount support quotes back is the one that counts.

Next step: open a ticket in Portal naming your server and what you need, extra IPv4 addresses, an IPv6 range, or both. Support replies with the maximum for your configuration and the cost.
