What happens to your data when you cancel a service
Quick answer
Cancelling a service and losing access to your data are not the same moment. Here is the contractual baseline that applies to every service, and what you need to do before you cancel.
"Solid IT. No Surprises." should apply just as much on the way out as on the way in. If you cancel a service, you should know in advance what happens to your data.
The contractual floor
Worldstream's Terms and Conditions set one baseline that applies regardless of product: Worldstream is under no obligation to keep your data after an Agreement ends, and may wipe, format, or destroy it starting 30 days after the end of the Term. That's a floor, not a promise, data isn't wiped the same day, but it also isn't guaranteed to be kept any longer than that either, so treat 30 days as the latest point by which you should have already exported anything you need.
How you cancel, per product
| Product | How you cancel | What happens to your data | Export window |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flexible VPS | Delete the VPS from Portal (see Managing a Flexible VPS) | Governed by the contractual floor above | Export your data before deleting the VPS |
| Dedicated Servers | Request cancellation from the server's Overview tab (see How to cancel your server) | Governed by the contractual floor above | Export your data before requesting cancellation |
For any other service, open a support ticket in Portal to arrange cancellation. Export anything you need first.
