Managing a Flexible VPS: start, stop, resize, redeploy
Quick answer
Manage a VPS from its detail page: Overview, Backups & Snapshots, Performance, Activity, and Properties tabs. Start, stop, restart, and resize from Overview. Redeploy wipes all data and reinstalls the OS, so treat it as a last resort.
VPS list tabs
Under Compute → Flexible VPS in Portal, four tabs cover the whole fleet:
- Virtual Private Servers: all your instances.
- ISO Images.
- Performance.
- Settings: SSH keys.
VPS detail tabs
Open a specific VPS to see:
- Overview: resources, networks, guest agent status, and the action buttons.
- Backups & Snapshots.
- Performance: charts for that VPS.
- Activity: action history.
- Properties.
Actions
Start, Stop, Restart
Standard power controls from the Overview tab. Restart performs a reboot.
Power-cycle
Attempts a graceful OS shutdown first, then does a hard reset. Use this when a restart isn't responding.
Open VNC Console
Opens a browser-based console to the server in a new window. Useful if SSH or RDP isn't reachable.
Resize
On the Overview tab, under Resources, adjust vCPUs, RAM, or disk size (disk resize is grow-only) and click Apply. Some changes need a reboot; a "Reboot required" banner appears when that's the case.
Add an additional disk
On the Overview tab, under Resources, use "Additional Disks → Add Disk".

Overview
Destructive action: Redeploy reinstalls the operating system on the same specs. All data on the VPS is destroyed. New credentials are generated, save them as soon as you have them. Only use Redeploy when you intend to wipe the server.
Destructive action: Delete removes the VPS permanently and cannot be undone. Double-check you have the right instance before confirming.
Guest Agent
The Overview tab shows the status of the qemu-guest-agent running inside the VPS. A running guest agent is what typically lets a hypervisor-based platform read details like the guest OS and its IP addresses without needing to log in to the VPS itself.
